PBS 131 - Emergency Medical Dispatch

Course Description

Prepares students to efficiently triage injuries and/or illnesses using information provided by callers to an emergency dispatcher and to competently provide pre-arrival instructions to those in need of emergency medical services.
Lecture 1 credit. Total 1 hour per week.

General Course Purpose

The content of this course addresses the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), and all current American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM,) NHTSA and Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services guidelines, which prepares students to meet certification standards.
