PHT 274 - Digital Film Editing and Post Production

Introduces students to techniques and procedures involved in digital film editing and post production. Covers aspects of editing to include industry standard software packages. Emphasizes the mechanics and obstacles of working with the moving image in the 21st century including available tools and methods, importance of file types, and how to keep things organized.
(3 Cr.) Lecture 2 hours. Lab 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

This course teaches film editing using industry standard protocol and equipment. It familiarizes students with the technical and creative practices of professional editing and familiarizes them with post production techniques. The course teaches them various software packages and prepares them to work as a member of an editing team. This course introduces, reinforces and applies concepts foundational to time-based media and sequential art.
