ROC 115 - Therapeutic Radiation Safety

Course Description

Presents an overview of radiation protection focusing on detection and measurement, shielding and room design, somatic and genetic effects, maximum permissible dose, surveys, source handling, personnel monitoring, and organizations and agencies that guide radiation protection procedures.
(1-2 Cr.) Lecture 1-2 hours, Total 1-2 hours per week

General Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to expose the student to radiation safety practices and procedures necessary to operate safely as radiation therapists in the treatment of patients.
