MUS 158 - Recording Studio Electronics: Theory and Maintenance
Introduces the practices used in maintaining professional recording equipment and basic electronic theory used within the recording industry. Provides the skills and knowledge necessary to perform routine maintenance and to repair recording and related equipment. Designed to prepare the student for position as entry-level technician or apprentice recording engineer.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
Prerequisite: divisional approval.

Reliable internet access and a Zoom-capable device are required. Theory and maintenance. Introduces the practices used in maintaining professional recording equipment and basic electronic theory used within the recording industry. MUS 140, 157 and 158 work together and are recommended to be taken concurrently. Completion of the Music Recording Technology Certificate in one year requires that MUS 140, 157 and 158 be taken concurrently in order to progress to MUS 200 level courses in the spring.
