Introduces still photographers to fundamentals of planning and recording video with sound, and basic editing in Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. Students learn through readings, lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on work in teams to complete video projects. Cameras will be provided. Hybrid class. Requires significant self-directed study online in addition to scheduled weekly class meetings in person on campus. Reliable internet access and a computer are required for the hybrid portion of your work. 100% in-person. Hybrid course.

50% of class time meets in person, on campus; students are expected to attend class in person on the days and times listed on the schedule. 50% of class work is completed online, independently, via CANVAS. Reliable internet access and a computer are required.
No prerequisites for 130. 130/131 are combined. An introduction to the fundamental techniques of video production through demonstrations, lectures, screenings, and hands-on use of video cameras. Introduces preproduction planning, editing, sound design, and output, as well as concepts of time-based media. As of Fall 2023, Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions are no longer offered for free through NOVA. Students need to purchase their own license for successful completion of the course work.
