The Associate of Science in Associate of Science: Education is part of the Education, General program at Tidewater Community College

The Associate of Science degree in Education is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year
college or university to earn a baccalaureate degree in education and meet Virginia?s teacher certification
requirements. Although students may remain in and graduate from the A.S. in Education without selecting
a major, students are encouraged to select from one of following three majors to best prepare them for
students they desire to teach: Elementary (PK-6), Middle/Secondary Education (6-12), or Special Education. Students should consult with an advisor or counselor on course and major selection to ensure they are prepared for the preferred program at the four-year institution they plan to attend.
