- Introduces assessment and health promotion for the individual and family. Includes assessment of infants, children, adults, geriatric clients and pregnant females. Emphasizes health history and the acquisition of physical assessment skills with underlying concepts of development, communication, and health promotion. Prepares students to demonstrate competency in the assessment of clients across the lifespan. Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories, clinical/community settings, and/or simulated environments.3 credits

| You are required to complete 45 contact hours for this course in a combination of lab and clinical. 5 clinical hours are scheduled with NSG 100 clinicals. Attendance at the fall semester mandatory clinical orientation (September 12th at 9am) is required. In the event of unforeseen clinical facility closure, clinical hours may be assigned through virtual means, which may require additional costs to students of up to $150. Students must have a working laptop that meets VWCC technology requirements. 40 hours of health assessment lab are completed with a combination of virtual vSims and weekly on-campus health assessment lab. | |||||||
