The Career Studies Certificate in Career Studies Certificate: Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is part of the Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) program at Tidewater Community College

This Career Studies Certificate leads to Intermediate Level employment opportunities in the field of
Emergency Medical Services. This curriculum prepares students to provide entry-level advanced life
support (ALS) Patient care. Successful completion of required courses allows students to sit for the
National Registry of EMT?s Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certification exam, furthermore,
enter the Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic curriculum.

Courses require students to have current Virginia EMT and CPR certification as approved by the Virginia
Office of EMS.
